Developing a new Local Plan for Royal Greenwich:
Last year we started the development of the new Local Plan which will set out the Council’s vision for the development of Royal Greenwich to 2036. It will provide a succinct and up-to-date framework for addressing the borough’s housing needs and other economic, social and environmental priorities. It will also give local people a platform to shape their surroundings.
Call for Sites:
The Call for Sites process is an opportunity for landowners, developers, agents and site promoters to submit sites to the Council, which are considered to have the potential for future development, either the short-term (1-5 years), medium-term (5-10 years) or long-term (10-15 years).
We are also interested in knowing whether members of public are aware of any sites or land that may be suitable for different types of new developments or uses (e.g. vacant or poorly used sites or premises), to enable the Council to investigate these further.
Type of sites:
We are looking for people to submit proposals for consideration for site allocation(s), for future use or development of land such as:
In terms of the size and capacity of proposed sites:
Important to note: The submission of a site provides no guarantee that it will be allocated in the Local Plan or for the suggested use. Any sites identified as suitable via this process does not mean planning permission will automatically be granted. Proposals for development will still be subject to detailed planning consideration.
Submit site details:
The following survey includes a map you can draw boundary lines for the proposed site. We also ask you to provide postcode and address details as well as any information you might have on current, former and proposed site use. You can fill out the form more than once if you want to suggest multiple sites.
When proposing areas please take into consideration areas of protection such as open spaces, nature reserves and world heritage sites. There is a full list and map from our previous Local Plan site allocations you can view at royalgreenwich.gov.uk/local-plan
We are conducting this as a closed consultation so no information you provide will be shared publicly at this stage.
Submissions will close on 31 July 2024.
Next steps:
An assessment of the submitted sites will be carried out to assess their suitability against the guidelines within the National Planning Policy Framework, Planning Practice Guidance and the London Plan (2021). This will help determine which sites should be considered for potential inclusion as allocations in the Local Plan.
There will be further opportunities to make comments on proposed site allocations during formal public consultation on the Local Plan which will take place later in the year.
